Want to get involved in YaleBoston, but not sure where to start? You've come to the right place! We're always looking for interested people to help us plan and run our events, and to serve on our committees and our board. Below, you'll find some areas where we'd particularly like to recruit more people - check any that appeal to you, and we'll be in touch with you soon!
Membership and Marketing Committee
Responsible for collecting feedback on our events and determining the effectiveness of our outreach. The M&M Committee usually conducts business by conference call, two or three times a year. Chaired by Jim Fisher '78.
Young Alumni Committee
Conceives, organizes, and runs YaleBoston events geared towards recent graduates. The YAC is responsible for planning both regular young alumni happy hours and "young alumni-sponsored" events like last summer's Red Sox game and January's wine tasting at the Boston Athenaeum. Most planning is done by email. Co-Chaired by Brian Hoefling '12 and Caroline Dewing '12.
Major Event Apprenticeship
Several of our large recurring events, like the Summer Barbecue, Feb Club, and the biennial Tailgate, tend to fall on the same shoulders year after year. We hope to expand the planning process for each to include a small committee - many hands make light work!
Volunteering at Events
Many of our events require a few volunteers, usually to assist with setting up, cleaning up, or checking in. We keep a list of regular volunteers to contact in those cases; if the event is ticketed, volunteers usually receive discounted or free admission in exchange for their assistance.
YaleBoston does not presently have a dedicated social media manager. We'd very much like to bring someone on board - possibly even a few people! - to help with our presence on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
We always come away from our events with fewer pictures than we'd like. As a result, we're building a list of camera-savvy alumni whom we can contact before major events to see if they're planning to come and whether they'd be willing to make a point of taking pictures while they're there.
YaleBoston's back end doesn't run itself! We can always use help updating our website, managing our data, and compiling reports for the board and the members. Familiarity with NationBuilder is helpful but not necessary.
Do you bleed Yale blue? We're looking for people to help us keep track of which Yale teams are in town (or on television), spread the word, and lead the cheering section. Fans of particular sports or of the Bulldogs as a whole are both welcome.
