| Latinos at Yale: Past / Present / Future
 | Preparations are under way for the second Yale Latino Alumni Reunion (YLAR2) to be held in New Haven, April 20 through April 22, 2012. We know that those of you who attended the first reunion can’t wait to come back and we’re excited about hosting those of you who were unable to make it the first time around. Your second chance to attend is finally here!
Reunion weekend will be filled with events that have been especially selected to appeal to a wide range of alumni. Speakers, panels and workshops will explore issues important to our community. A special plenary will bring all of us together to reflect on 50 years of Latinos at Yale. Traditions will be revisited and there will be plenty of opportunities to reminisce about your time at Yale while also meeting new generations of alumni and current students that you’ve not yet met, as our community has grown significantly over the years.
Past reunion speakers include: U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor LAW '79; former California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno '70; and Professor and nationally-recognized Latino/a voting rights expert Joaquin Avila '70. Stay tuned for YLAR2 speaker lineup! Opportunities to gather like this are limited in life. Visiting the campus on your own is just not the same and truthfully, social media is limited in what it can offer. Come back to a familiar setting and find out how your old friends are really doing. You’ll be amazed to see how great it feels to connect with folks face to face. You won’t regret it!
Maria Marta Chavez-Brumell, MA ’93, PhD ’04, YLAR2 Reunion Co-chair
Graciela Trilla, Branford ’79, YLAR2 Reunion Co-chair
Rosalinda Garcia, Assistant Dean, Yale College
