Barktoberfest

Diana Zhou Akelman JE'08 invites all area Yale alumni to "Barktoberfest," a fundraiser she's planning for the Animal Rescue League of Boston. The event is a dog-themed Oktoberfest celebration, complete with a canine costume competition, refreshments from local breweries and food trucks, and music by the inimitable Keytar Bear.

Come with your four-legged canine friends to throw back a few beers with your best bud while taking in the tunes of Boston’s very own Keytar Bear sponsored by A Walk in the Park. Beers brought to you by Harpoon BreweryNewburyport Brewing Co., and others to be announced.

Already getting excited for Halloween? Enter our Oktoberfest-themed doggie costume contest for the chance to win some pawsome prizes for your pup. Dog costume contest entry fee is a $5/dog donation to be collected at the event. Top 3 are "in the money." Winner walks away with a $50 gift card to AND a $50-value doggie gift basket from our favorite, local South End pet boutique, D'Tails Pet Boutique

We know you’ve been honing your lawn game skills all summer – so come show them off in the Barktoberfest Cornhole Tournament. Cornhole tournament entry fee is a $5/person donation to be collected at the event. Top 3 teams are "in the money." Winning team will receive a $100 gift card to Doretta Taverna & Raw Bar, Chef Michael Schlow's trendy new Greek Taverna near the Public Garden.

Last but not least, we will be running an opportunity drawing for a pair of Boston Bruins tickets, a 6-month BarkBox subscription, and a spa gift. Buy in at the event for your chance to win!

Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale at the neighboring SoWa Food Truck Bazaar. In addition to the above listed sponsors, big thanks to The Fish & Bone for sponsoring the glass beer steins included in all pre-sold tickets as well as to Polka Dog Bakery for donating treat bags included in Very Important Pets ("VIP") tickets, and last but not least, eatBoston for generously hosting us at Beer and Wine Garden at SoWa!
